Category: Higbee R-VIII School District
Higbee R-VIII is tiny — about 40 staff and roughly 107 students in grades 7 through 12, at 101 Evans Street, 660-456-7206. The Tigers play baseball and softball in both fall and spring, and basketball in winter. There is no football. It carries the highest school levy in the county, 5.05 — not through extravagance but because the district’s assessed valuation is about $17 million against Westran’s $183 million. On top of that the City of Higbee has the county’s largest municipal debt levy. The full explanation.
