Category: 4th Street Theatre
Built in 1913 and opened on February 8, 1914, the 4th Street Theatre is the oldest vaudeville house in mid-Missouri and, by some distance, the busiest venue in Randolph County — a monthly classic movie night, touring music, monthly blues jams and the 4th St Players. It seated 1,000 originally; today it seats 299. Tickets cost ten cents in 1914. It was a cinema for 83 years, then donated to the Historical Society in 1997 and restored debt-free by the community. It is at 110 N. 4th Street — three wrong addresses circulate. The building, the board and where to buy a ticket.
