Moberly has four hardware and farm stores for a town of about 13,000, and there is a reason for that: Orscheln Farm & Home was headquartered here until Tractor Supply bought the chain in 2022. Antitrust regulators made Tractor Supply sell 73 Orscheln stores and the Moberly distribution centre to Bomgaars as a condition of the deal. That is why the town now has a Tractor Supply and a Bomgaars a few minutes apart, and why Bomgaars still keeps offices on Overcenter Drive where Orscheln’s headquarters used to be.

Not a retail store
Mid-Am Building Supply, 1615 Omar Bradley Dr., is a building-materials distributor that supplies lumber yards and contractors. It is not a shop you can walk into for a box of screws, and it is listed here only because it turns up in searches for Moberly hardware.
