Moberly Monitor-Index

660-263-4123 · moberlymonitor.com

Founded June 23, 1869 by Lafayette R. Brown as The Monitor. It is one of the oldest continuously published businesses in the county.

It is not owned by Gannett. Gannett sold it in 2021 to Westplex Media Group, which sold it to CherryRoad Media in October 2023. CherryRoad started life in 1983 as a New Jersey technology company and moved into newspapers in 2020; its CEO Jeremy Gulban is listed as the paper’s publisher.

It publishes weekly, on Fridays, and it is still printing — the subscription page sells a printed paper delivered to the door.

Subscriptions: limited free online access · digital only, with an introductory offer · print plus online, starting at $5. Subscription problems go to CherryRoad customer support on 844-956-3342.

The radio stations

Moberly has two separate radio ownerships, which matters more than people think.

The Carter Media cluster

300 West Reed Street, Moberly
Studio line 660-263-2424 · office 660-263-1500 and 660-263-1600 · toll-free 1-800-892-2300
Market manager: Cynthia Williams
News brand: Central Mo Info

KWIX 1230 AM, licensed to Moberly — news and talk, "Information Radio"
KWIX-FM 92.5, licensed to Cairo — simulcasts KWIX
KRES 104.7 FM, licensed to Moberly — country, with spot news and agricultural news. "Super Station KRES," 100,000 watts
KIRK 99.9 FM, licensed to Macon — classic hits, "99.9 The Captain"

The cluster changed hands in February 2026, sold by Connoisseur Media to Carter Media. If you see Connoisseur on a station’s own website footer, that is out of date.

Central Mo Info carries local and regional news and sports, school and business closings, obituaries, weather, a high school sports scoreboard, archived sports broadcasts, blood drives, pet of the week, religious services and a trading post. For closings and severe weather it is the fastest local source there is.

KZZT 105.5 FM

Licensed to Moberly. Classic rock, branded "KZ-105". Owned by Best Broadcast Group — independent, not part of the Carter cluster.

On air since April 1987, when it was rock-leaning Top 40. Adult contemporary through the nineties, oldies at the end of them, classic hits in the mid-2000s, classic rock since 2010.

KWRT 1370 AM is not a Moberly station despite showing up in searches — it is licensed to Boonville in Cooper County.

Television

Randolph County is in the Columbia–Jefferson City television market, along with Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Chariton, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Montgomery, Morgan and Osage counties.

Moberly is not in the KTVO market. That is Ottumwa–Kirksville, and it covers Adair, Macon, Putnam, Schuyler and Sullivan counties in Missouri — not Randolph. A quirk worth noting: Macon County is in the KTVO television market even though KIRK-FM is licensed to Macon and belongs to the Moberly radio cluster. The radio and television boundaries do not line up.

KOMU 8 — NBC, Columbia. Owned by the University of Missouri and staffed in part by Missouri School of Journalism students, which makes it an unusual arrangement: a commercial network affiliate that is also a teaching newsroom. Historically it has been strongest in the northern half of the market — the Moberly end — which makes it the station most likely to send a crew here.

KMIZ 17 — ABC, Columbia, owned by the News-Press & Gazette Company. Branded ABC 17. Carries MeTV, MyNetworkTV, Fox and several other subchannels.

KRCG 13 — CBS, Jefferson City, owned by Sinclair. Strongest in the southern half of the market.

Legal notices

If you have to publish a legal notice in Randolph County — a name change, a probate notice, an estate, a public hearing — the Moberly Monitor-Index runs a Legals section with a submission form: legals@moberlymonitor.com.

The county’s delinquent tax sale list is published there too, for three consecutive weeks before the sale — see our property tax guide.

Missouri notices are also aggregated statewide at mopublicnotices.com, searchable by county, holding the past twelve months with older material in an archive. That is free and worth checking if you want to know what is being noticed in Randolph County — tax sales, foreclosures, hearings, estates.

Where this site fits

Moberly Mainline does not reproduce other outlets’ reporting. When one of the organisations above breaks a story, we link to it and send you there — the work is theirs. What we do is the other half of the job: the directories, the phone numbers, the fee schedules and the deadlines that nobody has time to chase.

Headlines from other outlets are linked in the folder they belong to, never reproduced here.

Ownership, call signs and contacts verified against each outlet’s own pages and FCC market data, September 2026.
