Registering
The deadline is the fourth Wednesday before election day — 27 days out. For the April 7, 2026 municipal election it was March 11.
To register you must be a U.S. citizen, be 18 or older on or before the general election, not be a convicted felon unless your civil rights have been restored, and not have been judged mentally incompetent by a court.
Three ways to do it:
Online, through the Missouri Secretary of State, linked from the Clerk’s registration page.
In person — and not only at the courthouse. Registration stations include the Clerk’s office, the DMV, the Health Department, Family Services and the library.
By mail — print the application and send it to Randolph County Clerk, 372 Highway JJ, Suite 2-B, Huntsville, MO 65259.
Moved? There is a change of address form. Do it before the deadline or you may be sent to the wrong polling place.
What we could not confirm: the Clerk’s pages say nothing about photo ID requirements at the polls, and nothing about poll hours. Missouri’s rules on both have changed in recent years. Call ext. 320 or check the Secretary of State before election day rather than trusting anything you read second-hand, including us.
Voting absentee
Missouri allows absentee voting for six reasons: you will be away from the jurisdiction on election day; illness or disability; religious belief; you are working as an election official; you are incarcerated but still eligible; or you are certified in the address confidentiality program.
The deadlines:
Absentee voting opens six weeks before the election.
A mailed or faxed ballot request must reach the Clerk by 5 p.m. on the second Wednesday before the election.
In-person absentee at the Clerk’s office runs until 5 p.m. the night before the election.
Most absentee ballots must be notarised. The exceptions are overseas voters, active military, and permanently disabled voters and their caregivers.
Send applications by mail, by email to lanee.vogan@randolphcounty-mo.gov, or by fax to 844-402-9963. Full absentee information.

Read number 15 again. The Clerk’s own listing says of the Central precinct: “All voters can vote here.” It is a countywide vote center in the courthouse’s upstairs lobby. If you are in Huntsville on election day and your polling place is across the county, you can vote at the courthouse instead. Very few people seem to know this.
Also useful: districts, wards and precincts, sample ballots, and results.
Running for office
Filing windows for 2026:
April 7 municipal election — opened December 9, 2025, closed December 30, 2025 at 5 p.m.
August 4 primary — opened February 24, 2026, closed March 31, 2026 at 5 p.m.
Every county office: $100 filing fee, four-year term, partisan, elected county-at-large. Bring valid ID and a completed, notarised form DOR 5120.
General qualifications, from the Missouri Constitution and statute: U.S. citizen, state resident for one year before the election, registered voter of the county, not delinquent on any state income, personal property, municipal or real property tax, no felony conviction or guilty plea, and all required campaign disclosure reports from prior elections filed.
Office-specific requirements worth knowing:
Associate Circuit Judge — 25 at election, licensed to practise law in Missouri, resident of state and county one year.
Prosecuting Attorney — licensed Missouri attorney, county resident one year, 21 at election.
Circuit Clerk — 21 at election, state one year, county only three months.
County Clerk — 21 at election, state and county one year.
Recorder of Deeds — 21 at filing, plus a surety affidavit for bond.
Collector — 21 at filing, current on all taxes, and a surety affidavit for a $750,000 bond.
Treasurer — 21 at filing, current on all taxes, and a surety affidavit for a $3,000,000 bond.
Presiding Commissioner — resident of the county.
Township committeeman and committeewoman are different: one of each per party per township, a two-year term, and you must have been a resident and registered voter of both the county and the township for one year.
One caution: the Clerk’s filing page still carries term start dates from the previous cycle. Confirm current dates at ext. 320 rather than relying on what is posted.
What else the County Clerk does
Beyond elections: keeping the County Commission’s records, payroll and employee benefits, records management, and insurance and bonding. The Clerk also reports annually to the state board of education on every school district’s finances, due June 30.
And the one that matters most to anyone disputing a tax bill: the County Clerk is secretary to the Board of Equalization and furnishes the appeal forms. See our property tax guide.
The Clerk’s site also has pages for liquor licences, fuel tax refunds, tax levies and county financial statements.
Verified against the Randolph County Clerk’s own published pages and Missouri statute, September 2026. Election law changes. Confirm deadlines with the Clerk at 844-277-6555 ext. 320 before you rely on them.
